Position Summary: The purpose of this job is to develop and support outreach efforts inCNC machiningandAdvanced Manufacturing Pathways. This includes educating individuals about career opportunities, promoting enrollment into credit and non-credit pathways, supporting MET and BCS with courses/classes/camps in the Advanced Manufacturing pathway, and to collect participant data and outcomes submitting monthly (and annual) reports to Pellissippi and SEAMTN.

Essential Functions:

50% Support/lead student instruction in labs and lectures that promote career training in CNC machining and Advanced Manufacturing pathways as well as performs the following duties:

a. Support BCS and MET classes and labs at any Pellissippi campus or at offsite locations that support the SEAMTN objectives/activities

b. Prepare labs and classrooms for BCS and MET that support the SEAMTN objectives/activities

c. Maintain supplies and consumables, tools and tooling, measuring devices, and equipment

d. Requesting quotes, completing requisitions for supplies and receiving supplies.

e. Submit work orders and provide details of work needed.

f. Enforce safety rules.

40% Develop, implement and support outreach efforts that promote career training in CNC Machining and Advanced Manufacturing pathways as well as performs the following duties:

a. Provide outreach support through America Makes programs, Middle College, Cybersecurity Summer Camp, Project GRAD, Project MFG (machining dynamics support), and machining apprenticeship development and other programs supporting the advanced manufacturing pathway for machining.

b. Promote and support enrolment activities in the MET advanced manufacturing pathway programs.

c. Promote and support enrollment activities in BCS advanced manufacturing Programs

d. Take part in development of marketing plan and to execute marketing plan.

e. Develop and support community outreach programs relating to CNC machining and advanced manufacturing

f. Conduct program and facility tours and work available recruiting sessions

g. Engage with existing students to promote retention

10% Collect, prepare and distribute project reporting and data analytics as well as preforms the following duties:

a. Acquisition, reporting, and management of all program data and information.

b. Coordinate and provide accurate records regarding financial and student databases and related surveys

c. Create, disseminate, and deliver reports on budget expenditures and projections, research productivity, status updates, and milestones/deliverables for PI and department

d. Collect participant data and outcomes and submit monthly (and annually) report to PI.

Job Requirements:

· 3 years (minimum) apprenticeship as a Machinists or Toolmaker, or a diploma from an Applied Technology program (Industrial Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Machining), or an Associate degree (Industrial technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Machining)

· 3 years (minimum) experience in MET related field such as: CNC machining and programming, equipment and machine maintenance, machinist, engineering technician, equipment service technician, design technician, technical trainer

Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience

Skills and Abilities: CNC Mill and Lathe operation, CNC machine setup and operation, CNC programming and troubleshooting, manual machining, machining equipment maintenance and repair, CAM applications

Key Result Areas: Student enrollment into advanced manufacturing related credit and non-credit programs, Recruitment events attended, tours given and participant count, camp enrollments

Complexity & Creativity: This position requires strong problem-solving skills and sometimes the ability to think “outside the box”. The ability to understand and communicate knowledge to students and others in a way that they can learn the material being taught. The ability to operate and teach manual and/or CNC machining, and the knowledge to maintain and repair various types of equipment is desired. General computer and software knowledge, e.g.: Microsoft Office applications. CAM software experience, e.g. FeatureCAM or MasterCAM. CAD software knowledge a plus e.g. SolidWorks. Strong understanding of safety requirements e.g. OSHA standards. Verbal and written communication skills. Critical thinking skills. Strong technical understanding and reasoning skills. Ability to work with little supervision.

Nature of Contacts: The employee contacts venders for quotes, and industry for information, Various college personnel such as purchasing, maintenance and other departments to coordinate activities promoting Advanced Manufacturing. Contact regional school systems, organizations and industry to promote enrollment and programs related to advanced manufacturing at Pellissippi. Some interaction with grant partners/stakeholders

Physical Demands: The position requires walking, standing, sitting, some travel for training, lifting up to 40 pounds over head to stock supplies. For heavy parts and materials, help is usually available.

Hazards: When working with rotating equipment physical injury is always a possibility for both the employee and the students. That is why this position requires the employee to adhere to and enforce all safety rules.

Pay Rate: $44,790 - $55,440/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required. To be considered in determining pay, all related work experience must be listed on the application.
