The finance department in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University invites applications for a full-time tenured/tenure track position in Finance with primary emphasis on applications of big data analytics to address outstanding issues in finance and business research at the rank of Associate/Full Professor beginning in mid-August 2022.

This recruitment is part of an ambitious Invest Syracuse Cluster Hire Initiative in the broad area of big data and business analytics. As an integral part of this investment, Syracuse University will recruit multiple candidates for faculty positions for a research cluster in the focus area of big data and business analytics. Faculty hired into these positions will build on our existing strengths in the focus area and will participate in an organized research cluster that spans multiple departments across the University.

The finance department is interested in scholars with expertise in big data analytics, a deep interest in finance in general, and, more specifically, in addressing important issues in finance using big data analytics. Potential subject areas include, but are not limited to:
- analysis of very large data sets, such as trade and quote market microstructure data.
- applications of machine learning and/or artificial intelligence in finance.
- analysis of unstructured data, such as data from social media, webpages, government documents, satellites and geolocation sensors, with application to financial economics. Qualifications
We are looking for an established scholar who can contribute to the above areas. Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in a relevant quantitative field and strong research credentials. We expect the ideal candidate to demonstrate a commitment to conducting high quality, high impact research, including research leading to publications in top outlets in finance.

The department/school seeks candidates whose research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to the School’s and the University’s strategic commitments to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Job Specific Qualifications
