Part-time faculty to be a course build and instructional lead for SWK 775- Program Evaluation (3 credits). Course description: Evaluation of human service programs reflected in students’ field placements. Evaluability assessment. Program description. Posing evaluation questions. Quantitative and qualitative methods of needs assessment, information management, process evaluation, outcome evaluation, cost analysis, reporting results. Students enrolled in the course must have a taken pre-req of SWK 662 with a co-req of SWK 771 or SWK 772.
The purpose of the course is to help students develop the conceptual knowledge and research skills necessary to evaluate social work practice and human services programs. While the course emphasizes the internal evaluation of service delivery programs, connections are drawn to policy level evaluation and to the evaluation of clinical practice. The course presents an overview of basic elements of program evaluation and examines the agency context of evaluation, using students’ field settings. Throughout the course, ethnic and cultural competence are addressed as core issues of evaluation practice. Students also will become more critical consumers of published research and evaluation literature.

SWK 775 is designed for graduate students whose primary interest is in developing knowledge and skill for the evaluation of health and human service programs.

Qualifications

Qualification is an MSW with previous graduate-level social work practice teaching experience preferred. Candidate must have 2 years post-masters experience.

Job Specific Qualifications Responsibilities

As an instructional lead, it is expected that the candidate will create the content and assignments for the course over a time of approximately 10 months prior to the launch of the course. In building your course, the candidate will determine the timing and method of assignments and quizzes/tests. The candidate will work with 2U Content Specialists to enhance the course material with available video and interactive techniques. After each offering of the course, the candidate will work with the 2U team to make minor refreshments to the asynchronous material, as necessary. The candidate will teach and grade at least one live, synchronous section (14 weeks) per class offering. For the specific term, synchronous sections will run based on regular semester session.
As part of the appointment, the candidate will coordinate the other section lead(s) work plan and grading expectations. This will include:
• Suggest follow-up on asynchronous content, timely topical information, assignments, case, and problem discussions
• Create grading rubrics/guidelines for section lead(s) to administer

In the role as a section lead, the candidate will:
• Meet all designated class periods.
• Conduct discussions for each week’s live session.
• Grade any assignments and exams in a timely manner based on instructions/rubrics provided.
• Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
