VCUarts Summer Pre-College Instructor (Non Benefited)


Description of the Job:


The VCU School of the Arts seeks instructors to teach in the Summer Pre-College Program for High School Students: July 11-29, 2022. Training and orientation equivalent to three hours will be required of the candidate prior to the start of the program.

Responsibilities include:
  • Complete required youth training delivered by the Mary and Frances Youth Center
  • Lesson planning and interdisciplinary instruction for high school students in fine arts, design, or performing arts
  • Create a course syllabus and daily projects/assignments
  • Participate in the overall skills development of the students through discussion, critique, evaluation
  • Plan an end of program event such as an exhibition
  • Ensure quality and effectiveness of the Summer Pre-College Program
  • Enforce Program policies and procedures at all times
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator
Required Qualifications:
  • BFA degree, or current MFA student with college-level teaching, or assistant teaching experience
  • High energy, enthusiastic, enjoy working with creative and passionate students
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree with high school or college level teaching experience
