Position Summary Information
Key Responsibilities
Juniata College, a nationally ranked liberal arts college of 1400 students located in the scenic Allegheny Mountains of central Pennsylvania, invites applications for the multi-year fixed-term position of Assistant Professor of Data Science and Computer Science beginning August 2022. The position has the potential to become a tenure-track position in a future year. We seek individuals who have a genuine interest in teaching within the small liberal arts college environment. Teaching responsibilities will include some combination of introductory courses, upper-level undergraduate courses, and courses in the Master in Data Science program. Topics may include data acquisition, visualization, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and big data. The teaching load for this position will be 21 credit hours per academic year.

To promote and sustain the health and safety of our campus community, Juniata College has adopted a Covid-19 vaccine mandate for all Faculty, staff and students. Exemptions to this mandate will be considered for bona fide medical, and religious reasons. Weekly testing will be required for the unvaccinated. Those granted exceptions for reasons other than approved medical or religious exemption will be assessed a monthly testing fee.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. (by the time of appointment) in Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Teaching experience or promise of excellence in teaching is preferred. Familiarity with and the ability to teach computer science courses will be beneficial. We strongly encourage applications from candidates who can demonstrate through their teaching or scholarship that they can contribute to the diversity and inclusive excellence of our community. Supervision Required/Given
This position will reside within the Math and Computer Science/Information Technology Division. Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience or promise of excellence in teaching is preferred. Familiarity with and the ability to teach computer science courses will be beneficial. Physical Demands Special Instructions to Applicants
