The Resident Campus Minister embraces Gannon University's primary aim of "transforming lives and fostering transformation" by creating opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to learn by engagement through retreat and small group experiences, intentional mentorship, and meaningful relationships with the aim of helping students answer the question "How will I live my life?" In addition to serving the residents of a First-Year Residence Hall, one of the primary responsibilities of this position is to grow Campus Ministry's retreat ministry to local Catholic Parishes and to Catholic High Schools in the Diocese of Erie. This position will form students around four mission values: faith, leadership, inclusiveness, and social responsibility so that students are equipped and instilled with the confidence to evangelize, inspire, and change the culture. The appropriation of faith and the spiritual development of students will be central to all dimensions of this work, including accompanying students on their personal exploration of values and worldview. This position will also have opportunities to participate in high-impact programs for student engagement across the University, such as Alternative Break Service Trips and The T.R.A.V.E.L. Program. Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission.
A Bachelor's Degree is required. A Master's degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field is preferred. One to three years of ministerial experience in campus, parish, or other ministry-type environments is preferred. Experience with facilitating retreats is required. A qualified candidate will have at least a basic knowledge of Catholic Tradition, mainline Protestant and non-denominational traditions, and the principles of ministry. A strong candidate will possess the ability to address large groups of people and to effectively communicate and educate on issues pertinent to Catholic and ecumenical values and traditions. Interfaith and Intercultural Competency are a significant plus. Music ability or other ministry-related skills will be considered. A valid driver's license is required.
