The Office of the Provost under the direction of Dr. Roger Ward invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral researcher position in the field of higher education leadership and administration. The expected start date is immediate, but no later than January 3, 2023. This is a two-year fellowship with a possibility to extend to a third year.

The position will be located at University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. UMB is Maryland’s public health, law, and human services university, dedicated to excellence in education, research, clinical care, and public service. The fellow will engage in individual (mentored) research and team research in the field of higher education, with potential emphases on administration, equity, teaching effectiveness, leadership, and policy analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the Provost and members of the UMB community to establish a research agenda for the Office of the Provost.
  • Conduct independent and team research on selected topics related to the Office’s research agenda.
  • In coordination with the Provost, publish findings and present research at local and national conferences.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders regarding opportunities for collaboration and distribute results of studies.
  • Work with University IRB to ensure all research follows protocol and is approved prior to beginning.
Qualifications :

Required qualifications:

Doctoral level degree (PhD or EdD; completed by the start of the appointment) in Higher Education, Education Policy, Student Affairs, Organization and Leadership, or related field.

Excellent communication, teamwork and collaboration skills, organizational, and time-management skills are a must.

Preferred qualifications:

Expertise in survey research tools such as Qualtrics and statistical analysis and related software such as SPSS

Knowledge of various qualitative and quantitative research methods

Experience writing grants and a publication track record are desirable
