Position Summary:

The Communications Coordinator supports the Director of External and Government Relations and the Marketing and Communication divisional leadership team in delivering on the Colleges strategic plans and advancing the College's image and reputation. The Coordinator provides support for communications, public relations, and external relations functions for the Division of Marketing and Communications. This forward facing role interacts with students, staff, faculty and campus leadership, so the ability to handle complex and confidential situations and requests is essential.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Acts independently to identify, research and recommend communications methods and procedures to meet college objectives
  • Create public relations and marketing materials, including newsletters, website copy, and brochures and press releases
  • Prepare and send pitches, press releases, and other communications to promote relevant updates, news, and events surrounding the College.
  • Builds and maintains up-to-date press lists. Deploys proactive press campaigns via PRM. Leverages HARO tool for real-time reporter needs.
  • Monitor analytics and create reports detailing the successes and failures of communications campaigns and strategies
  • Ensure all communication is cohesive with the brand image, goals, and values
  • Support efforts to strengthen external and government relations
  • Craft compelling copy for a variety of print, digital, and social media projects
  • Write weekly stories focused on the achievements and accolades of Flagler Colleges students, faculty/staff, and alumni
  • Maintain news and stories content calendar
  • Writes, edits, and produces communications for internal audiences ensuring messages are communicated to the Flagler College community in a clear, timely and effective manner
  • Promote public events happening at Flagler College by researching and evaluating relevant print and digital publications to make media buys
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related field
  • Two years relevant experience
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines
  • Self-starter comfortable working autonomously or within a group
  • Strategic thinker with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with public or government relations a plus, but not required
  • Possess strong story-telling abilities
