Job Summary/Basic Function:
General Position Summary:
The Sociology Department at Wheaton College (MA) seeks applicants to fill a full-time, one-year visiting position for the 2022-2023 academic year. The primary responsibility will be to teach 6 undergraduate courses (3 per semester).
We are seeking a candidate that specializes in and could offer courses in one or more of the following: criminology/criminal justice, race/ethnicity, and/or transnational/global sociology. In addition to these, we would also welcome a candidate that could offer courses in media and society, race and ethnicity, introduction to sociology, family, and other courses that complement our current offerings.
Application Instructions:
You will be asked to provide a letter of application that addresses how your teaching would contribute to our undergraduate liberal arts institution and to furthering Wheaton’s commitment to fostering a community that both celebrates and includes a diversity of voices and perspectives in our content and classroom. We ask for a current CV, a teaching statement, and the contact information of three professional references. Within the teaching statement, please describe some of the classroom techniques/strategies that you have used in the classroom and the courses you would be interested in teaching. Finalists’ references will be contacted after we conduct interviews.

A Ph.D. in Sociology is preferred at the time of appointment; however, strong ABD candidates will be considered.
