The University of Bridgeport invites enrollment management professionals to join our leadership team. Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, the Dean will provide direction and oversight for the overall operations of the recruitment efforts for both domestic and international undergraduate and graduate students that are required to achieve the University’s strategic goals relating to admissions.

The incumbent assists the Vice President with developing and implementing programmatic marketing and recruitment strategies that result in increasing both the quantity and quality of students entering the University.

The Dean will provide visionary and ambitious leadership for the Office of Admission. As the leader of a deeply collaborative senior leadership team, the Dean will work with administration, faculty, staff, students, alumnae, and others to achieve the College's bold vision for the future, building on current strengths and amplifying UB’s standing so it continues to be a force for change in the world. The new Dean will be strategic, collegial, innovative, creative, and able to navigate the complexities of the enrollment management landscape. The ideal candidate will be able to provide direction and leadership to all areas of an admission department. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Responsible for setting enrollment goals in collaboration with the Vice President, assisting in the management of the Admissions budget, and overseeing and implementing recruitment procedures.
  • Responsible for developing and evaluating the annual admissions plan.
  • Develop strategic plans and enrollment forecasts.
  • Manage the enrollment funnel from inquiry to enrollment.
  • Oversees the daily operations and staff training.
  • Develop appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for collaboration and monitoring of external organizations to assist in the recruitment process.
  • Conducts market research as appropriate to the University’s targeted populations and develops strategic plans and enrollment forecasts.
  • Organizes staff and related admissions functions to include:
    • Travel territories
    • School visits
    • College Fairs
    • Campus events
    • Direct mail campaigns
    • Electronic communication flow to prospective students and parents
  • Responsible for Human Resource actions, which include interviewing candidates; selecting, supervising and mentoring professional staff. Will provide on-going support in the training of staff members, communication of department and University policies and procedures, performance evaluations and regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Develops and monitors benchmarks to measure progress toward achievement of goals.
  • Generates management reports for monitoring progress toward goals; meets regularly with the Admissions Leadership Team to report progress, discuss issues and anticipate needs.
  • Carry out special projects and other duties as assigned by Vice President.
  • Represents the Admissions Office at meetings within the University meeting regularly with the academic directors and deans. Fosters excellent working relationships with student service departments including Financial Aid, Dean of Students Office, International Student Services and business offices.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Master’s degree
  • 5 or more years leadership experience in the management of both international and domestic enrollments, marketing, and other related admissions activities;
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation for local and regional travel. Occasional domestic overnight travel required as well as occasional nights and weekends.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of the organization and outside contacts, using a high degree of judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to handle confidential materials and information, maintaining credibility through business relationships.
  • Possess excellent relationship building, communication and influencing skills.
  • Possess teambuilding skills to strengthen and cultivate relationships
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats to perform all functions related to this position
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Experience in computer databases, information systems such as Slate, Colleague or other industry related CRM solutions. Experience with the Student Exchange and Visitors Information System (SEVIS) beneficial.
  • Strong analytical ability demonstrated by expert knowledge of Excel and statistical analysis software.
  • Experience in creating strategies to leverage financial aid.
  • Experience with presentations to external and internal audiences regarding enrollment issues.
  • Knowledge of ethical guidelines and other rules and regulations promulgated by both the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC) and the National Association of Foreign Student Advisors (NAFSA).
