The Department of Music and Theatre at Xavier University is currently accepting applications for an adjunct instructor to teach our Voice and Movement for the Actor course starting in the Fall of 2022. Candidates should be able to help support a diverse and inclusive student community.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Theatre (Acting or Directing preferred) and professional performance or directing experience. Candidate should have extensive knowledge and practice of voice (Linklater or Rodenburg, dialects, IPA) and movement (Laban, Alexander, Chekhov, Suzuki or Viewpoints) techniques, along with previous experience teaching undergraduate students.

Contracts for adjunct faculty are issued on a semester basis. Additional courses in the Spring semester of 2023 may be available to the applicant who demonstrates successful teaching in her or his first semester at Xavier.

Duties include:
  • Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment in the classroom for students to deliver their best work.
  • Utilize Xavier’s academic program, Canvas, for course information and grading.
  • Develop an effective syllabus and course assignments/assessments appropriate to the course learning objectives for each class.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with our dynamic and creative team of faculty and staff.
