The Dental Assistant, Fones School of Dental Hygiene, is a part-time, approximately 16 hour/week, 12 month/per year position (fall and spring/summer semester). The selected candidate will assist in the operation of the Fones Dental Hygiene Health Centers of the University of Bridgeport.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with operation of clinic, radiology, and dental
materials labs as assigned:
- Biological monitoring and cleaning of sterilizers
- Infection control management – disinfection and sterilization
- Radiology functions
- Support functions of practice management software, digital imaging, and other emerging technology
- Assist dentist in variety of treatment procedures
- Set up and breakdown of operatory
- Four-handed dentistry
- Contribute to integrity of dental hygiene program
- Support goals of the program through clinic management
- Guide students with instruction and assistance in clinical administrative functions
- Assist with equipment maintenance, repair, and quality assurance logs
- Maintain SDS sheets
- Assist with inventory control
- Assist with front desk duties as needed
- Communicate with Program Director, Clinic Administrator, and/or Clinic Supervisors
- Adhere to Dental Practice Regulations and Standards of Clinical Practice as a Dental Assistant and member of the Dental Team
- Complete annual compliance training
- Carry out other duties as assigned
- Role model for dental hygiene students
- RAD and ICE certified dental assistant with 2 years four-handed dentistry experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Working knowledge of dental practice management software, radiographic processing, and digital imaging systems
