Johns Hopkins Carey Business School invites applications for a
practice-track (non-tenure track) faculty position in the
discipline of Marketing to start in August 2022 (possibly January
2022, if available). We welcome applications from candidates
motivated by the unique opportunity to participate in building a
world-class business school at a premier private university. This
position is open at both Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC
We are interested in candidates with a passion for teaching and a
strong record in the classroom, delivering high quality business
education to graduate students.
The Marketing faculty at the Carey School consists of both
tenure-track and practice track faculty, with varied interests
across all areas of theoretical, behavioral, and empirical
marketing, as well as practitioner-oriented engagement.
Teaching foundational and advanced courses
in Marketing at the MBA/MS level, with a focus on Marketing
analytics (e.g., Customer Analytics, Social Media Analytics).
Familiarity with R and/or Python is strongly preferred. Although
this is primarily a teaching position, practice track faculty are
also expected to engage by connecting students to industry and
practice. We also value contributions to practice-oriented
- A PhD in Marketing, or a related discipline is required for all
professor of practice appointments (at any rank), and must be
conferred by the employment start date. For lecturer and senior
lecturer appointments, a PhD is strongly preferred but a master’s
degree is sufficient.
- Demonstrated teaching success in a business school or graduate
professional school is strongly preferred.
- Successful prior engagement in business practice is
Depending on the level of academic and/or professional experience
of the successful candidate, the appointment will be made at the
Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor of Practice, or
Associate Professor of Practice level. Under exceptional
circumstances, appointments will be considered at the Full
Professor of Practice level.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of
employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees
who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or
clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or
possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet
this requirement may result in termination of employment.
The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas,
laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving
community contact requires documentation of immune status against
Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella
(chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the
Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include
documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella
vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory
testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are
ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for
those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization
documentation from their own health care providers. Any
vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost
in our Occupational Health office.
