As a member of Campus Technology Services organization this individual has the primary responsibility of performing audio-visual equipment maintenance, new installations, control systems programming, and updating the departmental asset management documentation. These responsibilities include technical repair calls that involve an in-depth understanding of methodical problem analysis and resolution. Additionally, this individual will perform equipment upgrades and scheduled replacement of existing equipment. Further, this position serves as backup support to other Media Services areas. Major Responsibilities
Technical Services Area
  • Primary technician that performs daily repair and maintenance of audio-visual equipment and systems for the campus.
  • Provide technical input for assigned campus projects to include design, consultation, facility preparation, installation, and project management. Includes coordination with Facilities Operations and Services, Facilities Planning Design and Construction, Registrar, Consultants, Term and General Contractors.
  • Primary technical responsibility for configuring and programming of Crestron control systems used in academic and administrative spaces.
  • Responsible for equipment purchases for the Technical Services area. This includes purchases for new construction, equipment replacement, area supplies and equipment repairs.
  • Coordinates the repair of all circulating and fixed media equipment inventory controlled by CTS . Routinely performs preventative maintenance on audio-visual equipment and systems. The primary technician that responds to audio-visual related trouble tickets and repair calls from The Help Center.
  • Provide backup support and assistance to other Media Services areas as needed.
Communications
  • Promote active communication between functional users and team members. Contribute appropriately to conversations and meetings. Accurately prepare written and verbal correspondence that is coherent, effective and professional.
  • Effectively communicate project time-lines, readiness and status updates to the associate director and functional users on a regular basis.
  • Communicate effectively with manufacturer’s technical support and help desk personnel for support assistance.

Documentation
  • Maintain and review a centrally located repository of documentation. Repositories can include The Help Center ticketing system and project management application, asset management tracking system, CTS shared drive and other office tools. Provide feedback and recommendations to improve organization’s documentation systems and processes.

Event Support
  • Provide technical advisement and support to administrative events (e.g. Commencement, Convocation, College Council) requiring temporary media equipment installation or presentation assistance. On occasion may require evening or weekend hours.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships
Reports to: Senior Media Specialist, Campus Technology Services
Supervises: Student and temporary support staff employees, as needed. Required Qualifications
  • Experience working in the audio-video technologies field.
  • Bachelor’s degree OR associates degree AND at least three years’ experience in audio-video technologies.
  • Evidence of effective interpersonal skills and customer service orientation to coordinate, manage, and consult with individuals from all levels to facilitate the use of audio-visual technology.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Evidence technical troubleshooting skills in audio-visual technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, educational technology, film and new media, or related field.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • In-depth and broad knowledge of computing technologies, audio/visual equipment, and audio/visual control systems.
  • Familiarity with Crestron control systems, asset tracking software, and/or certifications in the audio-visual field.
