Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,897 to $5,500 per month

Full classification Salary Range: $3,897 to $7,051 per month
  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

The incumbent will serve as the Senior Budget Analyst in ARO to support the mission of the unit and the University assuring that all office clerical and administrative responsibilities are executed and completed in a timely manner and assists school/college budget managers, administrators, and department administrative assistants in resolving issues related to their accounts. The incumbent will coordinate Phase I and Phase II budgets by working closely with schools, colleges, and the Vice Provost. The incumbent will develop accounting/tracking systems to monitor expenditures, obligations, and available funding; reconciling stateside and non-state accounts; the preparation of reports, and the processing of budget related paperwork e.g. requisitions, direct pay/hospitality forms, Adjusting Budget Journals (ABJs), Transfer of Payroll Expenditures (TOPs), Transfer of Operating Revenues or Expenses (TOEs), and Foundation payment authorizations and journal entries.

Key Qualifications
  • Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of the university infrastructure, policies, and procedures
  • Thorough mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Fully functional knowledge of and skilled in all technical aspects of work assignments and standard office procedures and practices.
  • Expertise in using office software packages, technology, and systems (Microsoft Office Suite, data bases, social media, email, calendar, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, and/or equivalent training and work experience involving budget and financial transaction management and analysis
  • Two years of professional experience in analyzing, monitoring or preparing budgets or similar relevant experience


Department Summary

The Academic Resources Office provides policies, procedures, and assistance regarding budgetary matters. This includes, but is not limited to, Academic Affairs Level B Budget, Faculty Recruitment and Moving Expenses, Instructionally Related Activities (IRA), and Provost's Funding Commitments.
