(Public Affairs/Communications Specialist II)

Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,515 to $4,000 per month

Full classification Salary Range: $3,515 to $6,358 per month
  • This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.


The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Brand Strategy and Marketing, the Digital Marketing Specialist (Public Affairs Specialist II) will support the overall marketing operations by researching, writing, coordinating and executing digital marketing campaigns and materials that elevate brand awareness for the University. The incumbent will lead the ongoing coordination of digital touch points, including email marketing, social media and website updates. The Digital Marketing Specialist is involved directly in writing and editing a variety of electronically-based communication materials. This position manages assignments and allocates time to duties mentioned below based upon direction from the Director and/or Associate Director of Brand Strategy and Marketing.

Key Qualifications
  • Displays knowledge of digital communication methods and best practices
  • Knowledge of market research and related techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of campus events and/or current events, and capitalize on opportunities to increase positive digital engagement
  • Strong written communication skills that display the ability to produce clear and concise content for internal and external tactics
  • Demonstrated ability to select and/or create content for email marketing campaigns
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships within the University and community
  • Displays excellent organizational skills with ability to manage many tasks simultaneously
  • Displays critical thinking skills to synthesize digital marketing data and identify insights

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Psychology, Communications, English or related field.
  • Minimum of two years, progressively responsible technical or professional experience in marketing, communications or fundraising.
  • Experience executing digital communication techniques, including email marketing and social media content.
