Finger Lakes Community College is affiliated with The State University of New York (SUNY) and is currently recruiting for a Composition Instructor/Writing Center Administrator.   1. Qualifications : Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Experience : Minimum of three years' experience in workforce development/continuing education/training or related activity. Experience with project management, supervision and budget management preferred., Experience in working with the public, local businesses, state agencies, economic development offices and other groups which deal with workforce and professional development needs and support preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in decision making and organizational skills and ability to work independently and within a team. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (written and oral) and proficiency in a variety of computer programs, including MS Office
  3. Special Skills : Commitment to training, education, and accountability, in efforts to promote a culture of inclusion and belonging. Must maintain a clean, valid and current NYS driver's license while employed at FLCC.
  4. General Functions : The Assistant Director of Workforce and Career Solutions is responsible for assisting with and supporting the development and delivery of an innovative and exceptional quality educational environment that promotes academic excellence and student success in the areas of workforce development, professional development, non-credit continuing education, and non-credit to credit programming. The Assistant Director will assist and support the management and direction of workforce/professional educational programming, assist in the oversight of budgets and grants that support workforce development, and foster inter-departmental and external college-community efforts and partnerships in support of the College's mission and strategic plan. Must be willing to travel and work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  5. Specific Responsibilities : Daily oversight and support of all workforce and Career Solutions department and programs. Provides daily oversight and support of the day to day work of the department, providing an integrated approach to workforce development, professional development, community education, community partnerships and business relationships. Assists with the oversight and management of all the College's workforce and/or professional development non-credit programs. Assists with supervising the staffing function for W&CS course offerings on and off-campus. Assists in the supervision and evaluation of professional staff and trainers. Assists with day-to-day operations of the W&CS office and assumes responsibilities of the Director in his or her absence.
  6. Works closely with internal and external contacts to assist with building long-term collaborative and strategic relationships with business and community organizations, individuals, and other agencies. Provides oversight for the development and administration of training contracts with business, industry and other employers, as well as workshops and conferences that meet specific workforce and/or professional development needs within the private and public sectors of the community. Assists with building long-term, collaborative and strategic relationships with business organizations, individuals, community organizations, and economic development agencies. Works collaboratively with local government offices in identifying and qualifying participants for W&CS programs and program offerings. Under the direction of the Director, coordinates with other potential partners, internal and external, who can assist with delivery of workforce and/or professional development and continuing education needs to assure efficient use of resources. Under the direction of the Director, collaborates, where appropriate, with academic department chairs and faculty to develop non-credit and non-credit to credit programs and courses that support identified needs and interests in the community. Under the direction of the Director, assist in collaborating with Campus Center Administrators to identify and serve workforce development, professional development and community/continuing education needs at the Campus Centers. Performs periodic site visits to support program staff, instructors and students when needed.
  7. Promotion and Advertising of Workforce and Professional Development offerings. Assists and supervises promotion and advertising of workforce and professional development offerings; oversees student registrations, student evaluations and tracking, and assessment of offerings; ensures timely completion of state reports.
  8. Budget Responsibility. Assists in monitoring the budget for workforce and professional development efforts, including the hiring of trainers and the purchase of supplies and educational materials. Projects, monitors, and analyzes enrollment trends and their impact on revenue projections. Provides direction and input for grant proposals related to workforce/professional development.
  9. Performs other duties and functions as assigned by the Director of Workforce and Career Solutions.

The starting salary is $47,565. Position will be posted until filled.
