Admissions Counselor (Budget Grade SL-2)

Description of Duties
SUNY Canton invites applications for the position of Admissions
Counselor to be based in Long Island, NY.
The position requires extensive travel with overnights and a
willingness to keep a flexible work schedule, including weekend
The tentative region for travel will include:
- Nassau County
- Suffolk County
- Supplemental travel to Westchester County, Dutchess County,
Rockland County, Putnam County, Orange County, NYS, Northern NJ,
and New England
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruitment of
prospective students, working with students and parents through all
phases of recruitment from inquiry through enrollment, working as
part of an admissions team to achieve enrollment goals and handling
other responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Driver’s License
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
with potential students, families, and the counselors and teachers
in the students’ support network.
- Ability to work independently and on a team.
- The successful candidate will be adaptable, detail oriented,
accurate, able to learn new technology quickly and ably to gather
- Experience traveling and working with students with
- A strong knowledge base of Microsoft Excel, Word and
- Experience working with a student information system.
Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will
be required to submit to a background check including, but not
limited to, employment verification, educational and other
credential verification, and criminal background check.
