Job Summary

Elmhurst University invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE ) Clinical Assistant Professor with expertise in Adult Neurogenic Disorders for a 12-month clinical track position in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders beginning in the Fall of 2022. This person will teach graduate coursework in adult neurogenic disorders and provide clinical teaching/supervision through the Elmhurst University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic ( EUSLHC ). General faculty responsibilities also include scholarly work and service.
The CSD department consists of stellar professionals who collaborate on graduate and undergraduate degree programs with excellent student outcomes. In 2020, our Speech-Language Pathology graduate program ranked among the best in Illinois (7th) and the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report’s prestigious Best Graduate Schools list. The department and EUSLHC are located in a newer building on campus. CSD faculty also train students in the 4,600-square-foot, state-of-the-art Elmhurst University Simulation Center within the nearby Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

Essential Functions
  • Teach graduate coursework in adult neurogenic disorders.
  • Provide clinical teaching and supervision for graduate and undergraduate CSD students.
  • Contribute to the CSD department’s strategic plan outcomes.
  • Serve on department and university level committees and in the CSD profession.
  • Engage in scholarly activities that complement professional knowledge and teaching.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs other university and department duties as assigned. Responsibilities also include maintenance of Illinois licensure and ASHA certification and membership in good standing, completion of CEU and ASHA clinical supervision requirements, demonstration of the essential functions and adherence to policies and procedures of the EUSLHC .
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to teach graduate course in Motor Speech Disorders
  • At least five years of full-time clinical experience with adult neurogenic disorders
  • Doctoral-level training (clinical or research) in Speech-Language Pathology or a Related Field
  • Experience and commitment to supporting a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • Illinois state licensure
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral-degree (clinical or research) in Speech-Language Pathology or a closely related program
  • University teaching or supervision experience
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
