Position Summary

The Business Reporting and Systems unit within Business Services is seeking a Business Systems Analyst that will be responsible for managing and maximizing the functionality of campus business and reporting systems. This includes Concur Travel and Expense, ShopBlue eProcurement, SIRI Business Intelligence, and Axiom Commitment Management, as well as future systems like UPlan Enterprise Budget and Planning tool.

This role will proactively assist critical business strategies by participating in the design and implementation of the systems, managing the maintenance of the system post-implementation, and continuous improvement of the system. Additionally this role will be responsible for reporting and analysis utilizing system-based and campus reporting tools, providing stand-alone analyses and seamless integration with the business system and reporting environments.

The successful candidate must possess strong analytical, conceptual, creative, and interpersonal skills. This position will require both technical systems skills as well as an understanding of University business processes to maximize the capabilities of the implemented business and reporting systems. The role requires resourcefulness, an ability to handle sensitive information, and comfort making decisions affecting system implementations.

Specific job duties include, but not limited to are:
  • Coordinate with business office functional and reporting staff and University end-users to analyze system needs, suggest process improvements, document requirements and use cases, and implement changes;
  • Gather requirements, design, create, and deploy reports that support both the business offices and campus customers;
  • Design and develop data integration routines to collect data from disparate source systems into an enterprise reporting environment, defining source-to-target mappings, business rules and other required data transformations;
  • Work closely with data and analytic teams across the organization. This role will represent Business Reporting and Systems on various analytics and reporting projects;
  • Develop custom, data-driven and responsive visualizations, and dashboards for business users of various backgrounds and expertise;
  • Perform administrative tasks and system maintenance including managing business rules, uploading / downloading critical data, updating lookup tables, troubleshooting issues, administering security and access;
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective & efficient application configuration;
  • Work with existing business application support team to provide customer support to business office and campus customers;
  • Work directly with third-party vendors in all aspects of setup, administration and support of business systems;
  • Develop, document, and implement policies, procedures, guidelines, and best practices to ensure data integrity and standardized end user processes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Business, or a related field;
  • A minimum of 2 of experience using industry standard business reporting tools to formulate metrics, create data quality management assessments, and insights to make business decisions;
  • Experience in analyzing data and reporting requirements to recommend and design solutions through the creation of appropriate database structures, reports, and query structures;
  • Familiarity with data management principles and practices, including metadata management and data access technologies;
  • Ability to own a problem and aggressively drive from problem statement to solution in a self-sufficient capacity;
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Proven ability to partner with business stakeholders to translate business objectives into visually appealing and actionable reports and analyses;
  • Demonstrated capacity for discretion and for handling confidential information with care.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with administration and reporting in Concur travel and expense, Jaggaer procurement, and Syntellis, Workday, Oracle, or other cloud-based third-party financial/business systems.
  • Experience creating reports and dashboards with Oracle Business Intelligence tools.
