Description:
Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Music Theory and Composition at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2018.

Compensation:

Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in music theory or composition by time of appointment. Demonstrated ability to teach music theory, musicianship, composition and related courses. Ability to teach general education courses in music. Excellent interpersonal skills for working with a diverse student population and a dynamic faculty. Potential for developing a distinguished scholarly, creative, and professional record. Background in musicianship methods (such as Kodály) and a commitment to community engagement are desirable.

Duties:
Teach courses in music theory (such as tonal harmony, tonal analysis, counterpoint, post-tonal and contemporary techniques); musicianship; composition and related areas (such as orchestration, music technology); and general education (such as music appreciation, global music, music and media). The successful candidate will be expected to develop a distinguished record of scholarly, creative, and professional achievement and to provide collegial service and advising at the department, school, and university levels.
