Job Description:
  • Responsible for assisting with coordination, planning, management and administrate activities within the Department of Emergency Management.
  • Update, manage and maintain several databases employed within the Department including UF Alert archives and Building Emergency Coordinator listings.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for general inquires to the Department through telephone, email, social media and other methods. Answer phone calls, emails and social media messages or forward accordingly.
  • Coordinate the design and production of various departmental forms, literature, posters, brochures, flyers, images and other media used for public education and outreach.
  • Assist with the coordination of events, such as training and exercises, through scheduling, sending invitations, maintaining registrations, creating certificates and other related activities.
  • Monitor incoming mail and keep appropriate files/records.
  • Attend staff meetings as requested; assist in developing administrative office procedures and policies.
  • Maintain appropriate level of office equipment and supplies.
Advertised Salary:

$18.00 - $19.50 per hour, depending upon experience

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products, document design and general office skills; understanding of UF business processes and systems; ability to multitask; knowledge of effective written and oral communication; knowledge of spreadsheets and database management; ability to compile and analyze data for administrative decisions; ability to organize and maintain records management systems; ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures; ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner; ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relations with others; ability to exercise good judgment; ability to work independently.
