Johns Hopkins University Communications seeks a Multimedia/Video Producer to join the central communications team in Baltimore, Maryland. We are looking for an experienced visual storyteller with editorial expertise and a creative eye for the production of video content that highlights high profile university initiatives and inspiring community stories. The ideal candidate is a versatile project manager, producer and video editor with demonstrated experience working with internal clients to create on-brand videos that meet defined objectives.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Multimedia Strategy, produce captivating video content aimed at internal and external audiences, including short-form, documentary-style videos, promotional videos, and social media content.
  • Work independently to simultaneously manage multiple video production projects from start to finish, often on tight deadlines. This includes: client consultation, needs assessment and metrics for success, development of concepts, treatments, and storyboards, script writing, field producing, interviewing, and editing of the final product.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • At least five experience creating video content for in a television news, corporate branding, non-profit or similar fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with creating video in multiple formats for a variety of social media channels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A well-developed sense of visual storytelling, including the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it in an accurate and compelling manner, with a proven ability to build a narrative from unscripted dialogue.
  • Ability to manage multiples projects from inception to completion, while partnering with photographers, videographers, internal clients, media relations representatives and others to plan and produce the highest quality content on location and in studio.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders and translate their vision into a finished product.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaboration regardless of executive hierarchy, with an ability to communicate to co-creative and communications professionals as well as with staff and academic clients.
  • Experience generating video story ideas and concepts.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud products, including Premiere. Motion graphics experience is a big plus.
  • Although primarily a producer/editor position, the candidate must have a willingness to learn and operate video equipment, including cameras, lighting, and live studio equipment, as needed, as well as actively participating in the day to day operation of the university’s video and audio studio and video archives.
  • Ability to work and thrive in an intellectually challenging, immensely complex and often unpredictable academic environment.
