The Center for Vaccine Development (CVD) and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for an Assistant Professor to join theirrapidly expanding, multidisciplinary infectious disease and vaccine research program. The CVD is a well-funded research enterprise that encompasses the full range of vaccinology, with highly successful programs in vaccine-preventable disease epidemiology, pathogenesis, and immunology, vaccine development, clinical trials, population-based field studies and has earned an international reputation for genetically engineering and testing vaccines against a wide variety of enteric and other infections, including malaria, COVID-19 and influenza.

This opening provides the exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and accomplished clinical and research team to study human mucosal immunology, enteric diseases, aging and vaccine development. The CVD provides a rich environment to expand or develop an independent research program in human mucosal immunology, enteric diseases, and vaccinology. Expected rank for this position will be Assistant Professor; however, final rank and tenure status will be commensurate with selected candidate’s experience . This is a full-time faculty position, based in Baltimore.

Qualifications :

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degrees, and expertise in human mucosal immunological and aging mechanisms and have a strong publication track record as well as experience in using advanced technologies and instrumentation such as high-parameter flow cytometry and mass cytometry with a focus on complex data analyses.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to ongoing research projects, as well as develop their own research program over time, and additionally will provide supervision to staff and fellows within the laboratory. Demonstrated experience in grant submissions and having obtained funding is a critical consideration.
