Assistant/Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Computer Science, with a Data Analytics/Data Science specialization, with preferred start Spring semester 2020. A start date of Fall semester 2020 is also acceptable.

Qualifications :

A successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

· Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field ; Individuals who are “all but dissertation” (ABD) will be considered; however, the degree must be awarded within twelve months of the first semester of employment

· Ability to teach introductory and advanced courses in computer science and/or computer engineering, especially in data analytics/data science;

· Significant experience in data analytics instruction and a strong interest in working with graduate and undergraduate students;

· Willingness to engage in a variety of instructional modalities, including online instruction;

· Willingness to actively seek external research funding and publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals and/or conferences appropriate to the field;

· Willingness to participate in professional service and community engagement activities;

· Willingness to assist in the accomplishment of University, College, and departmental goals and strategic plans.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering currently offers degrees at the BS, MS and PhD levels in Computer Science, as well as a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering. Starting in the fall semester of 2019, the department will begin offering a joint program (with the Rollins College of Business) leading to the MS degree in Data Analytics. (The BS and MS programs in Computer Science also include concentrations in Data Science.) The successful applicant will be expected to teach and conduct research in the area of data analytics/data science in support of the new MS Data Analytics program as well as the department's existing programs.
