Position Summary
The University of Georgia ( UGA ) is recruiting a cluster of outstanding tenure track faculty researchers to join an expanded focus on neurodegenerative disease research at the University. These newly recruited faculty members, led by the Isakson Chair, will conduct cutting-edge research on Parkinson’s disease and associated neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias at UGA under the umbrella of the Center for Brain Science and Neurological Disorders ( CBSND ). As Phase-1 of the faculty cluster hire to this new initiative, CBSND seeks to recruit two tenure-track faculty members this academic year. One position is targeted for an established investigator at the level of Full Professor with an endowed professorship title. The second faculty position will be at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. We are seeking outstanding researchers that embrace interdisciplinary approaches from diverse fields including neurobiology, cell and molecular biology, genomics and epigenomics, pharmacogenomic/personalized medicine, metabolic bioengineering, translational discovery, and computational neurosciences/neuroinformatics that can ultimately lead to novel mechanism-based therapeutic strategies and early diagnostic biomarker modalities.

The successful candidates at the Full or Associate Professor level should have robust research programs that are well supported by extramural funding sources in the area of neurodegeneration or a related field. At the Assistant Professor level, successful candidates should possess a well developed research plan and clearly exhibit the potential for establishing a vigorous research program. These faculty positions are required to actively contribute to graduate and undergraduate training and teaching.
