The Department of Genetic Medicine is seeking an Inventory & Distribution Coordinator who will facilitate the distribution of temperature sensitive and potentially biohazardous bio-products to critical research laboratories. Receive and monitor inventory, ensure quality and integrity of material, and deliver to researchers in an expedited manner, with appropriate document control.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Maintain the integrity of
bio-products. Monitor temperatures and storage conditions, and
transport in accordance with quality control and document control
protocol.
Inspect incoming shipments
for accuracy, quality, and approved temperature
storage.
Regularly work with
couriers and Johns Hopkins loading dock staff, to ensure consistent
and timely arrival of bio-products.
Immediately receive, sign,
and process against inventory for packages from shipping companies.
Cross reference packing slips with shipping manifests to assure
accuracy.
Distribute bio-products
across all Johns Hopkins campuses to faculty and researchers in a
timely manner (within 24hrs), under strict quality guidelines and
receipt from individual laboratories. Accurately monitor the
distribution of products through signature acquisition and
inventory tracking procedures.
Follow established
Department of Transportation and University guidelines for shipping
and transporting regulated bio-products and
reagents.
Maintain the stability and
integrity of the inventory items at all times, including
temperature monitoring, biosafety storage guidelines, safe chemical
handling procedures, individual package stability recommendations,
chain of custody monitoring and alarm system
accuracy.
At regular intervals,
monitor storage equipment for quality control and identify and
report any deficiencies.
Ensure appropriate
stocking of inventory, and assist with the quarterly center-wide
inventory audit.
Respond to inventory
monitoring alarm system 24/7.
- Work directly with many levels of the Johns Hopkins scientific community, faculty, staff and Leadership to ensure seamless research supplies to critical laboratories across the Johns Hopkins scientific community.
- Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 1 year related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some college experience.
- Customer service background.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Highly motivated.
- Good communication and problem solving skills.
Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications:
- HIPAA, DOT/IATA Dangerous Goods Shipping, (obtained after employment).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Microsoft Office, 4D.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to walk and push a cart.
- Some lifting of up to 20lbs.
- Able to sit for long periods of time.
