Job Summary

The Auburn University Museum of Natural History ( AUMNH ) is seeking a Curator (Collections Manager) for its Terrestrial Invertebrate Collection. Our collections are currently strong in Alabama insects.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions include but are not limited to: Sorting and identifying collections, maintaining existing collections, processing loans of materials, and maintaining the computer database. The candidate should be familiar with database programs, particularly Specify, and be committed to the open presentation of collections data on the internet. The candidate will be expected to contribute to AUMNH outreach and education efforts. For more information, please visit: http://aumnh.auburn.edu/ .

Minimum Education and Experience

Education Level

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.

Field of Study

Biology or related field.

Years of Experience

For a Level I, 0 years of experience is required

Area of Experience

Knowledge of a wide variety of terrestrial arthropods collections. Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures in the procurement and maintenance of collections for exhibition.

Requirements for Additional Job Levels

For a Level II Curator two years of experience is required. For a Level III Curator, four years of experience is required.
