Position Summary:

The incumbent is responsible for employing the college’s social media guidelines; Informing and train employees on the use of these guidelines and assisting grant communicators on social media best practices. Develop relationships with grant leaders, partners, and students and develop story ideas. Write articles (feature, news, editorial stories) and press releases.

Incumbents must possess a proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree in Communications or a related field from a regionally accredited institution required with one (1) or more years professional experience working with above-required skills with some responsibility for social and/or digital media in addition to print media.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
  • Experience with Media production.
  • Experience in creative writing
  • Experience with Traditional writing.
  • Ability to write proficiency in AP Style.
  • Ability to use “social networking speak” and online jargon.
  • Ability to use digital video camera (or equivalent) in filming and editing.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related discipline.
Example of Job Duties:
The Community Engagement Coordinator is accountable for providing assistance with online registration platforms for virtual and in-person workshops: developing content for posting on all designated social media sites. Develop and manage viral promotion campaigns. This includes such essential tasks as:
  • Cover NCNGM activities and events and promote, report, and/or inform via social media using photos, video, images, and/or interviews.
  • Track social media influence measurements. Analyze social media trends and prepare reports (example: usage statistics).

Salary:
$27.76 hourly.
