Duties will be split between the Lubbock VA Clinic at 2/8th employment and 75% employment with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC).
Responsibilities for the Lubbock VA Clinic include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Performs initial evaluation of patients referred for diagnostic assessment which includes history and physical examination, development of treatment plans, ordering and interpreting laboratory data, review of radiological data, initiating consultations and ordering medications. Specific to endocrinology, the physician is to evaluate patients for adverse side effects and of insulin, other medications used to treat diabetes, anti-thyroid medications and anti-resorptive therapies for osteoporosis.
Responsibilities for TTUHSC include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Inpatient and outpatient clinical service with special focus on diabetes mellitus management.
- Teach, supervise, and mentor medical students and residents on Endocrinology Service.
- Lecture and conferences to all levels of medical students and Internal Medicine residents.
- Clinical translational or basic science research experience and interest is a plus.
