Job Description:

The University of Florida/Shands/UF Health Care affiliated institutions present a rich diversity of inpatient and outpatient clinical material. The UF Health Pathology Laboratories Cytogenetics Laboratory is a full-service laboratory providing constitutional and cancer cytogenetic, microarray, and in situ hybridization testing. The successful applicant will contribute to medical student and resident training in Cytogenetics and Genomics. Scholarly study and investigation in the applicant's area of interest is expected.

The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine invites applications for a clinical cytogeneticist faculty position at the Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, non-tenure track. Primary responsibilities will involve directing the UF Health Pathology Laboratories Cytogenetics Laboratory, sign-out service, and teaching in Cytogenetics and Genomics. Interest in other clinical pathology or medical subspecialties is welcomed. Allocation of effort is flexible, with clinician-educator and clinician-scientist tracks available.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants should have an M.D., D.O., or Ph.D. degree and be board certified or board eligible in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics, Clinical Molecular Genetics and Genomics, Laboratory Genetics and Genomics or Molecular Genetic Pathology. Applicants must meet the qualifications of a CAP/CLIA Technical Supervisor in the Cytogenetics Laboratory. Newly board-certified/board eligible individuals are encouraged to apply. M.D./D.O. applicants must possess or be eligible for a Florida medical license. Experience in clinical laboratory management, assay development, technical problem solving, laboratory information systems, clinical databases, interpretation of microarray, karyotyping and FISH testing, and clinical consultation is required. The candidate should have an established track record of peer reviewed work and desire for advancing knowledge in the field. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:
Fellowship training with several years of experience in cytogenetics and molecular methods is preferred
