The Office of Student Financial Services is seeking qualified applicants for a Financial Aid Counselor position. The Financial Aid Counselor is a salaried, benefitted position located on our main campus in Winchester, VA whose usual hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Occasional nights and weekends required for events.

Counselors report directly to the Director of Student Financial Services and provide Financial Aid counseling services to all students and parents; they are responsible for the full financial aid process from awarding aid to processing withdrawals. They communicate with students via phone, walk-in appointments, email, and Zoom appointments. Counselors review documentation as required by the federal, state, or institutional or outside agencies and communicate with students about requirements for aid. Specific reviews include FAFSA verification, Comment Code and FAFSA Reject reviews, Return to Title IV Funds (R2T4), some reporting, and the awarding of state grants including the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG) and College Transfer Grant (CTG). This position works closely with the offices of Admissions, Student Accounts, and Hornet Central to provide exceptional service for prospective and current students and their families.
