Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are
responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum
learning environment, responding to student needs, managing
effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses,
modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism,
developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and
staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and
maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be
responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation
and interest in the total affairs of the college.
Under general supervision, this individual will develop, prepare, and teach Criminal Justice Speed Measurement Instrument and/ or other courses within the department as well as being responsible for organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of curriculum experiences for students enrolled in the program. Instructional responsibilities require a broad-based knowledge of the criminal justice field. Faculty will also be responsible for advising and recruiting students and collaborating with agency and industry partners to provide necessary training and education.
Education Required
-Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university
-A valid North Carolina Driver's License or the ability to attain one upon hire.
-Current instructor certification by NC Department of Justice, Training and Standards Division
-Current Speed Measurement Instrument (SMI) Instructor certification by NC Department of Justice, Training and Standards Division
Education Preferred
- Master's degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university.
Experience Required
- 5 years of relevant field experience in criminal justice (law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, homeland security, etc.)
- Post-secondary teaching and/or industry training experience in Criminal Justice using any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminar.
- 10 years of law enforcement training/teaching experience based on regulatory training standards.
- 10 years of law enforcement experience.
- Administrative and/or supervisory experience.
- Satisfactory completion of teaching credentials for courses assigned required.
Experience Preferred
- Greater than 5 years of relevant field experience in criminal justice (law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, homeland security, etc.)
- Greater than 10 years of law enforcement training/teaching experience based on regulatory training standards.
- Greater than 10 years of law enforcement experience.
- Community college teaching experience.
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes
- Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
- Teaching/training experience based on North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards or North Carolina Sheriff Standards.
- Experience serving in a law enforcement agency in North Carolina.
