The Department of Communication Studies welcomes applications for a full-time (10-month), non-tenure track teaching faculty position (lecturer), to join the department September 1, 2022. This renewable position provides opportunity for advancement to senior and master lecturer.

Candidates must be available to teach 5 days per week, and the normal load is 12 hours per semester. Overloads may be available, as well as the potential to teach during summer and winter sessions.

The successful candidate is expected to:
  • Teach Public Speaking. Prior experience teaching Public Speaking is required

  • Teach in two or more of the following areas:
    • Introduction to Communication Studies

    • Communication Theory

    • Technical Public Speaking (connected to Sophomore Engineering Clinic II)

    • Public Speaking for reticent students (students with severe communication apprehension)

  • Assist the Public Speaking and Digital Presentations Coordinator

The ability to teach other courses offered by the Department of Communication Studies is considered a strong plus, including:
  • Introduction to Sports Communication

  • Mass Media & Their Influences

  • Political Communication

This position carries an expectation of service contributions to the department and university through service including, but not limited to, mentoring of students, curriculum development, student recruitment, coordination of student groups or events, and program assessment. Additional committee work as fits the candidate’s expertise and interests will be available. Lecturer positions are required to remain current in their discipline through appropriate professional development experiences.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess at minimum a Masters in communication or related discipline with experience teaching at the collegiate level. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
