Development Coordinator I- Office of Gift & Estate Planning - (STA009180)



Participates in the development and implementation of advancement programs (annual funds, alumni relations, special events, stewardship, public relations, etc.). Plans and executes related activities and administrative functions; provides technical knowledge and experience in basic fund-raising principles and advancement activities. Develops a basic knowledge of fund-raising principles and advancement activities.

  1. Assists development staff, managers and administrators in implementing annual funds and grassroots programs for alumni and other donor constituent groups.
  2. Participates in assigned fundraising activities such as direct mail, alumni relations, membership drives, reunions, special events, stewardship, etc.
  3. Develops and prepares acknowledgements, newsletters, brochures, press releases, reports, correspondence, and informational and solicitation materials for various advancement activities.
  4. Plans and conducts meetings, events, and activities to recruit volunteers, build relations with alumni, and maintain good will with various constituent groups.
  5. Provides guidance and supervision as needed to volunteer student organizations involved in fund-raising and other advancement activities.
  6. Executes various administrative functions such as preparing gift documentation and monitoring budgets.
  7. Participates in University-wide development activities as needed.
  8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Have the Ability To:
  • Manage certain financial and administrative functions of the Gift Planning Office, including the team’s purchasing, travel, and reimbursement needs.
  • Responsible for the documentation of all contracts once they are executed; prepare and document gift paperwork in CRM database and Gift Planning files.
  • Work closely with CDO on portfolio and program development efforts.
  • Coordinate efforts and manage deadlines among critical project priorities including annual Marketing and Communication plans and The Gift Planning Champions Certificate Training Program.
  • Collaborate on stewardship efforts for the In Tempore Legacy Society (ITLS), the planned giving donor society of University of Houston System.
  • Field questions and requests from University benefactors and their advisors, often serving as the first point of contact for Gift and Estate Planning.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with CRM databases.
  • Familiarity with managing contracts and vendor relations.
  • Experience working directly with donors and clients.
  • Ability to draft letters, proposals, and other correspondence for internal and external populations.
Qualifications :

Bachelors and No experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. No experience is required.
