Telecom Analyst

Under the supervision of the Telecommunications Manager – Telecommunications and Infrastructure Services, the Telecom Analyst (Professional Services Specialist III, Computer Services) provides technical support for all telecommunications technology, infrastructure wiring and carrier services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: performing adds, moves and changes for cloud and premise-based PBX and call center services for on premise and remote users; diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving telephony hardware and software service issues; oversees voicemail, call accounting and emergency notifications systems; coordinates infrastructure wiring projects for basic and carrier services; provides end user training on telephony technology utilizing in-person and/or video platforms and creates supporting documentation; supervises the issuance and inventory of cell phones and other mobile technology; and performs related work as required. This position is based in Union, New Jersey, but supports other campuses located in New Jersey. Travel and availability to work evenings and weekends may be required.

This is not a remote position and requires a physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of Telecommunications experience is required. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year for year basis. Preferred qualifications include: a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, IT, Computer Science or related field and at least two years of experience in telecommunications; VMWare Virtual Server Administration; Avaya or other voice platform certifications; k nowledge of Avaya PBX phones systems (CS1000, IP Office) for TDM and VoIP; SIP, PRI and Copper Trunking; experience with OpenText CX-E Voice and XM Fax and Avaya Voicemail Pro or similar voicemail/e-fax platforms; experience with Cloud Call Center design, deployment and support and call accounting software platforms; and MS Office, iPhone, Android and knowledge of current technology and related regulations/guidelines. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

The selected candidate will be required to pass a four (4) month Working Test Period to become eligible for a regular appointment.
