Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Student Health Services, the Certified Medical Assistant (Program Assistant, Administrative Services) provides excellent customer service to patients and performs professional and clinical responsibilities for the Office of Student Health Services. The CMA welcomes patients and acts as the patient liaison; supports the work of Student Health Services in various aspects; and handles multiple tasks while prioritizing department needs.

The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for the daily operations of the medical office including, but not limited to: scheduling appointments, answering phones, data entry, maintaining/ordering medical supplies and handling correspondence. The CMA assists as needed with patient care activities including, but not limited to: preparing patients for examination, taking medical histories, obtaining and recording patient vital signs, phlebotomy, administers intramuscular and subcutaneous injections as delegated by a physician or other licensed provider; and assists with COVID 19 contact tracing. This position requires travel as needed and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications: Current CMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) Certification and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college is required. Applicants who do not possess the required degree may substitute experience on a year for year basis. Applicants who possess an Associate's degree may substitute two (2) years of position-related experience for the remaining two (2) years of education. One year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a clinic/physician’s office setting is preferred.

The selected candidate will be required to pass a four (4) month Working Test Period to become eligible for a regular appointment.

As a condition of employment, external candidates are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to their start date.
