Typical Duties

· Development Coordinator is a professional position whose primary functions are administrative support to the Massey frontline fundraising team.

· This position will provide assistance in general office operations, stewardship and donor relations, communications, meeting and event support, calendar management and project management.

· Field donor inquiries related to ways to give, tax receipts and other giving-related questions.

· Create briefs for leadership and donor meetings, events, physician meetings, board committee meetings.

· Assist with gathering information and writing gift proposals, grant reports and stewardship reports.

· Coordinate special event planning for cultivation and stewardship events, facility tours, assist with signature events and special events that involve high-level prospects and donors. Send reminders of meetings, confirm attendees, order refreshments as necessary and complete setup and clean up for prospect meetings, committee meetings, meetings with VIPs, etc.

· Assist with prospect and donor research, data entry, data reporting, attendance tracking, etc.

· Responsible for providing quality service to internal and external constituents in an accurate and timely manner while ensuring efficiency.

· Prioritize multiple issues and hold responsibility for successful follow-through.

· Work within multiple databases.

· Performs duties that are diverse and advanced.

Hiring Standards

· An undergraduate degree from an accredited university or a minimum of 5 years of experience supporting a team of executives in a fast-paced, highly complex environment is required.

· Experience in development office administration and donor/constituent relations, particularly in an institution of higher education and/or medical environment, in an externally-facing role is required.

· Experience solving problems, prioritizing tasks, responding to questions, and making decisions independently while also functioning as a team player in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

· Demonstrated ability to plan, deploy, track and analyze donor relations and fundraising practices at an institution of higher education.

· Experience developing and writing professional communications, as well as exceptional oral communications skills and phone etiquette.

· Professional credibility required to engage and leverage senior administrative leadership, faculty, students, volunteer leadership and other key stakeholders in development activities.

· Experience with gift/transaction processing and documentation.

· Ability to analyze and validate donor data using various information sources including public and subscription databases.

· Database management and reporting skills (preferably with Blackbaud products) as well as experience managing mailing lists with an exceptional attention to detail.

· Experience with MS Office Suite software including MS Word, Access, and Excel, as well as VCU Real Source, Google apps (Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google analytics)

· Technical skills desired: basic website knowledge, Adobe suite (InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop) Enthusiasm for learning new software platforms.

· Deep appreciation for the mission and aspirations of VCU and the VCU Massey Cancer Center

· Working knowledge of tax laws affecting charitable giving.

· Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Salary Range: $40,000 - $55,000
