The Doctoral program in Health Related Sciences has an exciting
adjunct opportunity to write and grade comprehensive exams. Note,
the PhD program is a hybrid program with the Spring semester
running from the beginning of January through the end of June. A
course consists of 4-8 hours of in-person instruction during the
January session, five online sessions (each lasting two weeks and
rotated with the other courses) and 4-8 hours of in person
instruction in the June session.
This teaching position requires instructors to travel to the campus
in Richmond, VA twice per year. Travel and housing is not provided
at this time and is the responsibility of the instructor if they
live outside of Richmond.
The person hired for this position will also be a part of a three
person committee that writes questions and evaluates/grades
responses in the methods comprehensive exam that students in the
program take in order to be eligible for candidacy.
• PhD or terminal degree that included a dissertation in a health
science discipline, public health, or closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse
faculty, staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as
a faculty member at VCU
• Experience instructing in a hybrid format
• Experience teaching at the graduate level
• Experience instructing Finance and Economic Theory for Healthcare
• Experience writing and evaluating comprehensive exam
• Experience in CANVAS
