Position Function:

The Program Manager for the MSU Collegiate Recovery Community is responsible for the effective operation of programming and services for recovery, and the role involves a commitment to the establishment of a recovery friendly campus. In addition, the Program Manager for the MSU CRC is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating health education programming in support of the stated mission of the University and of the Division of Student Affairs.

Salary Grade : 14

The Department of Health Promotion and Wellness collaborates with our campus and community partners to provide student experiences that lead to holistic life-long well-being. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. In consultation with other leaders on campus, develop a strategic plan for the CRC Program.
2. Develops and maintains comprehensive schedule for CRC Program that include weekly seminars, service opportunities, social events, twelve‐step meetings, and other events that provide non-academic advising and academic support (such as peer tutorial programs).
3. Keeps abreast of recovery trends to ensure relevant outreach, educational programming, and resources are provided to meet the needs of the campus community.
4. Oversight of fundraising and community relations to keep recovery services efficient and compliant with federal, state, local, and University policy, and regulations.
5. Advisor to MS State Students About Service and Recovery Ally Dawgs to promote recovery friendly events, programs, and training.
6. Works collaboratively on specific, periodic general health promotion programming provided by the director and assistant director for all staff members.
7. Work with participants in setting goals, creating, and monitoring individualized change/recovery plans designed for developing skills to attain and sustain recovery.
8. Represents the University as a member of the Association of Recovery in Higher Education and the network for positive outcomes in accordance with the higher education institution’s missions, codes of conduct, and ethical practices.
9. Perform other duties that may be required and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree
Focus: Counseling, Recovery, Health Education, or related field
Experience (yrs.) None

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master’s in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or health-related field.
2. Two years of work-related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Working knowledge of a Collegiate Recovery Community on a college campus.
2. Experience working with substance abuse in higher education setting.
3. Ability to analyze problems, conduct research, implement solutions.
4. Demonstrative interpersonal skills among internal and external stakeholders.
5. Experience with grant management and fundraising.
6. Strong knowledge of substance use and recovery related topics required.
7. Strong work ethics with ability to adhere to appropriate ethical guidelines.
8. Skills required to work effectively in a complex organizational environment.
9. Demonstrative and effective communication skills (written and verbal).

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Limited exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
2. Routine deadlines, usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons outside of department.
3. Job requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands, and lifting to 10 pounds.
4. Job occasionally requires climbing or balancing,
