PROGRAM MANAGER of ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT

(IT SECTOR)

City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) , the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Technology Strategy, theProgram Manager of Academic Development, is responsible for overseeing and managing the district-wide development of new and the expansion of existing Information Technology (IT) career and technical education certificate and degree (AAS) programs.

The Program Manager of Academic Developmentworks in close collaboration with a host of key stakeholders to include faculty, college administrators, employers and workforce partners, vendors, and consultants to identify and assess needs, acquire external resources, and organize district-wide project teams to effectively create and deliver new or expanded IT programs and courses. Performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director – Technology Strategy and colleges, creates and manages project plans for all academic programming changes related to the technology sector, including timelines, deliverables, and communications plans.
  • Manages project teams to:
    • Establish and manage grants, budgets, purchasing and required legal agreements with partners around academic programming.
    • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
    • Track project milestones and deliverables through relevant software including spreadsheets, presentations and other forms of digital communication.
  • Working with faculty and college and district leadership, continuously assesses relevance and effectiveness of current credit and non-credit academic offerings and recommends new offerings or revisions based on industry feedback from external partners and labor market data.
  • Supports curriculum development process for all new or revised credit and non-credit IT Sector academic programming by connecting faculty to industry experts and setting project milestones to keep the development process moving.
  • Serves as the administrative sponsor for developing online asynchronous versions of IT coursework.
  • Assists Executive Director with creating materials and making presentations relating to department’s projects and performance achievements.
  • Collaborates with Student Coordinator-Technology Strategy to identify opportunities to improve student success in IT education programs through curriculum or business process adjustments.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Three years of experience developing academic or training programming or three years of work experience managing cross-functional projects in large organizations
  • Experience working in the IT sector desirable
  • Experience working in a higher education environment desirable
  • Experience managing large-scale programs
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to guide and motivate others toward goal achievement
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
