IT Data Warehouse Developer

Job Description Summary:

An IT Data Warehouse Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data warehouse and analytics architecture to meet an enterprise’s business analysis and reporting needs.

Our Ideal Candidate:
He/she works with architects and business partners to fashion out the technical vision for applications in Customer Data Warehouses employing SSIS, SSRS, and SQL server. The job description of warehouse developers includes gathering of business requirements and creating architectural designs. It involves designing, developing, and supporting new and current ETL processes employing industry standards and best practices to enhance loading of data from and into different source/ target systems.

The data warehouse developer’s role in an organization also includes providing support to the organization’s business requirements in the application and consumption of information from the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) or from other suitable source systems. He/she will be part of the team to review, analyze, modify, and create ETLs, utilizing SSIS, testing, debugging, integration and implementation processes. His/her tasks will also include documenting technical needs for ETL processes and databases, and ensuring optimal technical infrastructure is utilized.

This position involves the delivering of data integration projects and would therefore require leveraging best practices expertise and experience at implementation; as well as effective technology know-how. The individual holding this position must be able to perform various complex assignments without much supervision; and must be able to carry out training for company and IT staff.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks
  • Consolidate and optimize available data warehouse infrastructure or create a data warehouse infrastructure that is optimized and consolidated
  • Conceive analytics and business intelligence platform architecture for clients, including internal and third-party clients
  • Design and implement ETL procedures for intake of data from both internal and outside sources; as well as ensure data is verified and quality is checked
  • Design and implement ETL processes and data architecture to ensure proper functioning of analytics lad, as well as client’s or third-party’s reporting environments and dashboard
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders in ensuring data warehouse architecture development and utilization
  • Carry out monitoring, tuning, and database performance analysis
  • Perform the design and extension of data marts, meta data, and data models
  • Ensure all data warehouse architecture codes are maintained in a version control system.
Knowledge
  • Data warehouse systems and development theories, including ETL processes.
  • Local area networks and personal computing environments.
  • Client-server technology.
  • Database integrity and security standards, and data encryption methodologies.
Skills
  • Possessing a customer-oriented and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Maintaining an established work schedule and providing assistance outside of usual work hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and winter and spring breaks as required.
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy.
  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Performing data warehouse maintenance activities such as data warehouse backups, creating accounts, and enforcing data warehouse security.
  • Ability to to adopt and implement new software languages or tools according to the departmental needs.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective work relationships.
  • Effectively use work management and productivity tools for project management.
Technology Skills
  • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
Required Work Experience
  • Two years related work experience.
Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree.
Special Requirements

Licenses/Certifications; Other
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation needed for local Austin area travel.
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.

Salary Range $70,645 - $100,922
