Position Summary
The University of Georgia seeks an innovative, collaborative, and creative leader as Associate Director for Active Learning Initiatives within the Center for Teaching and Learning ( CTL ). The CTL is a unit of the Office of Instruction, whose central mission is to provide university-wide leadership, collaboration, and support on matters related to instruction.
The Associate Director for Active Learning Initiatives reports to, and collaborates closely with, the Director of the CTL in managing the Center’s responsibilities related to the Quality Enhancement Plan ( QEP ) focused on promoting active learning. By building upon current active learning programming (e.g., the CTL’s Active Learning Summer Institute, a three-week active learning course redesign experience), the five-year QEP (2022 – 2027) is designed to create a culture of active learning for UGA undergraduates.
In alignment with the QEP report, the Associate Director will oversee the development and implementation of active learning instructional development programming for instructors and graduate students, including:
- active learning pedagogy workshops and course redesign programming that culminate in an active learning certification for faculty;
- active learning resources that support the adoption of active learning practices by instructors, and
- an instructional grant program to foster sustainable active learning culture change within academic departments and interdisciplinary programs.
In support of the active learning QEP, the Associate Director will supervise and coordinate the efforts of additional CTL staff who will support active learning instructor development.
This position is Monday – Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with expectations for flexibility when needed to meet deadlines and provide support for the Center.
