Bloomberg Distinguished Professor Paul Ferraro ( http: // pauljferraro.com ) invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Fellow position at Johns Hopkins University. The candidate can be affiliated with the Carey Business School or the Dept. of Environmental Health and Engineering (EHE), or both (EHE is a joint engineering-public health department). The position is full time up to two years.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work as a collaborator with a network of behavioral science scholars applying experimental and non-experimental designs to inform environmental programs and policies. Duties include designing and implementing field experiments, analyzing experimental and observational data, and writing scholarly articles and grant proposals. The Ferraro lab works across a large range of topics and the post-doctoral fellow will have the opportunity to match their interests and skills to current projects or start new ones. The fellow will focus some of their time working on issues related to the post-adoption persistence of environmental practices and technologies. Other possible topics include poverty-environment links, causal inference in adaptation studies, causal inference in ecological studies, and the effectiveness of technical and financial assistance in voluntary and regulatory environmental programs.

Candidates must have excellent oral and written English communication skills, an ability to communicate to both scholarly and practitioner audiences, and a PhD in any social, behavioral, or natural science discipline. They must have experience in designs for causal inference from non-experimental data. Experience designing, programming and running experiments is desirable. Successful candidates are expected to have a PhD by 7/1/2022 for a start date between 7/1/2022 and 9/1/2022.

Applications MUST be submitted using Interfolio ( https://apply.interfolio.com/102387 ). Applicants should submit a CV, three reference letters, one research paper, and a cover letter indicating how the position requirements are satisfied.

Review of applications will begin 2/21/2022 and continue until the position is filled. Send questions to pferraro@jhu.edu .
