Position Description:

The Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) division seeks non-tenure track adjunct faculty to develop and teach 485.XXX Organizational Development and Innovation for online delivery within the MA in Organizational Leadership program. Online course development is scheduled from May 2020 to August 2020 for the Fall 2020 semester delivery. The course will run from September 2020 to December 2020. Candidates with online course development and teaching experience and those with experience teaching and engaging students from diverse backgrounds are of particular interest.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course explores the historically rich field of organizational development (OD). The goal of organizational development is to increase efficiency and productivity of organizational processes through planned intervention. To do so effectively, organizational development as an approach will encompass the analysis, development and implementation of planned efforts, often organization-wide and managed from the top. Students will examine common OD efforts that may include diagnostic activities, systems realignment, team-building, sensitivity training, or technology innovation. The outcomes of OD are rich with reward: organizations which embrace this approach also foster a learning culture and incorporate related behaviors that are dynamic, flexible, innovative and creative.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in Organizational Leadership or in a relevant field, such as management, organizational psychology, business, political science, or sociology, with a master’s degree at minimum
  • Five years professional work experience within the relevant fields


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A terminal degree in Organizational Leadership or in a relevant field, such as management, organizational psychology, business, political science, or sociology
  • 1-3 years of graduate level teaching experience
  • Online course development and teaching experience
  • The background to teach a wide variety of courses in Organizational Leadership.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
