Job Description:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and promoting success among a diverse student population.

Faculty members are responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy and framework of the program,

Massachusetts Bay Community College invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in Computer Science from qualified applicants. Responsibilities will include developing and teaching courses in areas of computer science. An ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for the relevant technical field(s), and an interest in collaborative work with diverse faculty and staff. They will also demonstrate an ability to engage, mentor, and work with diverse student populations. They will be comfortable offering hands-on laboratory courses by implementing active learning strategies using current computer technologies, software, and tools.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course/program requirements, and student learning outcomes to meet graduation competencies as appropriate;
  • Engage in professional development activities available to adjunct faculty to maintain excellence in teaching and learning;
  • Submit midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates;
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement;

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field;
  • Experience or training in teaching database-management, web design and development, -HTML5 & CSS3, JavaScript, ASP.NET, JSP, Servlet, or WordPress, or PHP/MySQL
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching all aspects of web site development is a plus
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • Experience in beginning level computer networking.

Salary Range: As per the relevant provision of the Division of Continuing Education (DCE)
