Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a professional level Storage Systems Administrator to join Infrastructure & Communication Technology (ICT), a unit within UFIT.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

UFIT has an opening for an experienced Storage Systems Administrator interested in applying their technical expertise to fast-paced, customer-focused production support and development environments. These environments run in a LEED certified data center housing several thousand servers and petabytes of storage.

As part of ICT, you will lead small to medium sized projects and direct teams responsible for maintenance, installation, configuration, and deployment of advanced hardware and software systems. You and your team will participate in managing UF Data Centers and delivering hosted server, storage, virtualization, database, email, or related systems. These systems connect University of Florida campuses and research sites to the world via high-speed data, video, WI-FI, telecommunications, and VoIP services.

This role provides opportunities to architect and design advanced system solutions, define enterprise standards, recommend new initiatives, and help UFIT align with industry trends. You’ll also collaborate with managers and technical peers and serve as a vital mentor to junior colleagues.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:
  • Designs, develops, and confitures enterprise storage, backup and archive, and load balancer solutions for the University of Florida (UF)
  • Monitors and maintains enterprise storage, backup and archive solutions and load balancers
  • Supports and advise UF constituents in the selection of resources
  • Diagnose, isolate, and debug complex hardware and/or software issues and performs problem resolution
  • Prepares and modifies technical documentation

Expected Salary:

$90,000 – $105,000; commensurate based on education and experience. In addition, the University of Florida offers a very competitive benefits package. https://benefits.hr.ufl.edu/

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in the following technologies:
  • IBM Spectrum Protect (aka Tivoli Storage Manager) suite
  • IBM Tape Library management (TS series) and IBM Storwize
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Fiber Channel Storage Area Network (FC-SAN)
  • One or more of the following vendor storage arrays: IBM Storwize, NetApp (FAS, AFF, and E-series) Dell|EMC PowerScale (Isilon OneFS), XtremIO, Pure
  • TCP/IP
