The post-graduate fellowship position at Emerson Counseling and Psychological Services (ECAPS) offers clinical training in brief psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and community consultation. Under supervision, the fellow will provide triage and intake assessment, individual psychotherapy, and crisis intervention for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in communications and the arts. The fellow will participate in all aspects of ECAPS' efforts to support the developmental and psychological growth of students, including outreach activities, ancillary and consultative work of ECAPS across campus.

  • Provide individual psychological evaluation, short-term psychotherapy, crisis intervention, referrals, and case management to students with diverse backgrounds and ethnicities who are in psychological/emotional distress.
  • Provide emergency daytime coverage for students in acute crisis, triage needs, arrange outside administrative, transport and medical/hospital intervention as needed; consult with involved professionals, college staff, and family or friends when indicated; follow all ethical, legal, and clinical standards of confidentiality.
  • Communicate regularly with center staff on clinical and administrative matters and enhance departmental collaboration and quality of care provided to students by attending scheduled clinical team meetings, case conferences, individual and group supervision and peer supervision as assigned.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, responding to after-hours emergencies as needed
  • Maintain appropriate clinical records by writing on-going case notes, intake and termination summaries in accordance with Massachusetts state laws.
  • Provide outreach and programming offerings to the campus community including training of resident assistants, crisis debriefings, and workshops. Consult with campus professionals regarding student mental health and well-being. Some outreach programs may be scheduled evenings or weekends.
  • Participate in external professional associations to maintain and extend clinical knowledge and expertise; sustain and deepen the knowledge base of best current practices in psychology and college mental health with regular educational activities and conference attendance.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

Hiring Range: $43,700.14 - $45,600.04
