Job Summary:

The Mead Witter School of Music seeks a Student Services and Curriculum Manager to provide administrative and strategic leadership in its educational mission. The person in this role will manage the department's complex curriculum, oversee staff in undergraduate and graduate programs, and, through data-mining and reporting, showcase the accomplishments of the department and recommend future directions.

The Mead Witter School of Music is one of the largest departments in the College of Letters & Science and is home to three undergraduate and four graduate degree programs. The School of Music is guided by its Strategic Plan which includes priorities of enhancing flexibility and diversity in curriculum that encompasses a wider range of musical practices and integrates learning across musical disciplines and improving student recruitment with an eye to excellence and inclusion. The person in this position will play a key role in advancing these priorities.

Student Services Management
--Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours of four student services staff: undergraduate advisor, undergraduate admissions coordinator, graduate program coordinator, and graduate admissions & funding coordinator. These positions deal with undergraduate and graduate recruitment, advising, funding and recruitment.
--Working with student services team, contributes to the conceptualization and implementation of audition days, orientations for new students, and other academic and career-related events.
--Troubleshoots advising and admissions/recruitment-related cases working with appropriate faculty and campus staff to solve student and prospective-student problems.
--Chairs search committees for these positions, as needed, and ensures backup in the case of vacancies or temporary absences.
--Develops and maintains expertise in graduate and undergraduate program policies and advising practices by engaging with relevant campus communities and taking part in appropriate workshops and trainings.

Curriculum Management

--Contributes to the conceptualization, development, and implementation of strategic initiatives in curriculum. Plays a leading role in developing related policy and considering exceptions to it.
--Manages the term course schedule build process by working with faculty and instructional staff to confirm course details in accordance with student degree requirements and university policies. Coordinates with facilities management staff to ensure appropriate instructional spaces based on the specific requirements of music instruction.
--Manages department student course evaluations, including performing a regular review of the evaluation forms and working through faculty governance to suggest changes, assigning them to courses in AEFIS each term, and running reports for purposes of faculty tenure and review and other departmental purposes.
--Provides administrative support and leadership for curricular change by 1) serving as an ex officio member of the Curriculum Committee (assisting faculty chair[s] in preparing meeting agenda, taking meeting minutes, responding to proposals brought to the curriculum committee), 2) coordinating the course proposal process (providing model syllabi and course templates, identifying a course number, serving as point person for Lumen course proposal process, makes recommendations for class meeting times for new course), and 3) coordinating administrative processes related to degree and program requirements.

Data Management and Reporting

--Coordinates department data-reporting need. Works with campus data reporting systems such as Tableau to respond to requests for department curricular and enrollment data from department, college and campus leadership. Serve as point person for the department submission of program assessment reports and Guide edits to meet university's reporting/editing cycle deadlines. May in some cases serve as lead writer of reports and other official documents or as proofreader of same to ensure that submitted materials meet requirements and reflect department programs. Support department leadership in completing National Association of Schools of Music annual data surveys and reaccreditation process that takes place on a 10-year cycle, this time in 2022-23 .
--Makes recommendations for strategic priorities based on department data.

Qualifications:

Required:
Three or more years experience in curriculum management and/or student services at the higher education level.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
