Job Summary/Basic Function
Maryville is seeking a dynamic individual who demonstrates a commitment to teaching excellence, teamwork, and exceptional service to students and the University. This full-time position within the Catherine McAuley School of Nursing will be responsible for teaching in the pre-licensure undergraduate nursing programs and serve as the Coordinator of the Nursing Learning Lab. The faculty member will provide leadership to the Nursing Learning Lab to attain the educational objectives of the center, including the promotion and maintenance of high academic standards within the program. This is an 11-month contract. The successful candidate must be committed to fostering a culturally diverse atmosphere for faculty, staff and students.
Essential Responsibilities
• Maintain a clean, safe Learning Laboratory environment
• Collaborate with the Simulation Coordinator to schedule and plan appropriate
• Learning Laboratory educational experiences to meet the course objectives in preparation for clinical
• Collaborate with Simulation Coordinator and IT specialist to maintain and replace lab equipment as required
• Maintain inventory and order nursing learning laboratory supplies including supplies for skills courses; collaborate with MStore to order and distribute student supply bags
• Coordinate all aspects of nursing skills courses each semester
• Coordinate student skills course remediation as needed
• Supervise all NLL adjunct staff including hiring, scheduling, and payroll approvals
• Provide orientation for faculty to the Nursing Learning Laboratory
• Attend student and faculty orientation events as needed
• Participate in various admissions activities throughout the semester as needed
• Schedule laboratory faculty and learning laboratory hours
• Collaborate with nursing faculty and clinical coordinators on content areas to ensure accomplishment of course outcomes
• Provide innovative, active learning opportunities for mastery of skills
• In concert with faculty who assist in the lab, evaluate student learning outcomes each semester
• Participate in nursing, school, and university committees as appropriate
• Coordinate quality assurance programs including evaluation of lab and lab instructors
• Supervise all Nursing Learning Lab adjunct faculty
Physical Demands
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Work Hours
• Includes the possibility of days, evenings, and weekends dependent upon schedule/semester
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nursing
• Two years full-time nursing experience
• Licensed to practice nursing in Missouri
• Unencumbered license and eligible for approval by MO BON as faculty
